Montgomery County, Mississippi, is located at the intersection of Highway 51 and Highway 82, bordered on the East by Webster County, Mississippi and Choctaw County, Mississippi, on the West by Carroll County, Mississippi, on the North by Grenada County, Mississippi, and on the South by Attala County.
According to the Cenus 2000, the population of Montgomery County was officially recorded at 12,094 residents. The county has three municipalities: Winona, Duck Hill, and Kilmichael.
The county government is headquartered at the county seat in Winona and is governed by a five member Board of Supervisors with all five members elected by a vote of the entire county. The county's three municipalities are operated under the mayor and Board of Aldermen, which are elected by the constituents of each municipality.
The county and municipality public school systems are a strength in Montgomery County. All schools are accredited by Mississippi Accreditation Commission of the Mississippi Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Half-way between Memphis and Jackson, Montgomery is an excellent place to live and raise a family. Our citizens enjoy a mild, year-round climate which is perfect for outdoor activities, the best community fellowship, and civic opportunities.
